Festival of Sport
Festival of Sports event took place at the Grove Field - Aberfan on Sunday 20th April, officially opened by his worship the mayor cllr Alan Jones and supported by Huw Lewis AM and Dai Havard MP.

The aim of the event was to highlight to the community and the surrounding areas, the new facilities that are currently available for sports and leisure activities. Over 250 people attended and were greeted with a variety of activities ranging from:

Angling Cycling Rugby Football Boxing Dancing Martial Arts A variety of astra turf activities

The event turned out to be a great day with participants and spectators throughly enjoynig themselves, adequaterly supported with light refresments and the hughly popular Climbing Wall.

The event was organised by the local Communities First - Sports Forum fully supported by the Local Authority and numerous other groups. The Forum would like to thank all those who participated, all those who organised the event and all those who attended showing true community spirit.
