Crime & Community Safety

New PCSO Gareth Jenkins
My name is Gareth Jenkins, I have been working with the Merthyr South Neighbourhood Policing team since the start of May 2008, based firstly in Troedyrhiw police station where I am undergoing training, in preparation to work in the Merthyr Vale Ward.

You may have seen me patrolling the area, particularly Bryngoleu and the Memorial Gardens due to issues being raised in your PACT meeting.

When my training period is completed I shall be using Aberfan Police Station as my base, meaning it will be open when I am on duty. Please feel free to sproach me whilst I am on my foot patrol. I am greatly looking forward to meeting and working with people within the community, and tackling issues with a partnership approach! Let's hope we can achieve a safer community together.

Safer Station, Safer Journey
Arriva Trains Wales and British Transport Police are working together to reduce crime and the fear of crime on the rail network.

The likelihood of becoming a victim of crime on the rail network is low and we are working hard to reduce crime year on year.

Some railway stations and trains can attract anti-social behaviour such as trespassing, graffiti and public order offences. This type of behaviour can add to the fear of crime, impact on your quality of life and damage the environment.
